Today we celebrated the 2020 Australia Day award recipients at a ceremony in Atherton.
“It was a real honour to recognise these amazing people in our community,” said Mayor Joe Paronella.
“Congratulations to all the nominees and recipients.
“We are very fortunate to have so many people in our community who make the Tablelands such a great place to live, work and play.
“I’m proud of the community we live in, and the people who make it special.
“Arts, sports, recreation, community services, business and events in our region would be nothing without their selfless support.
“It was particularly encouraging to see such talented and enthusiastic young people as award nominees.
“They are the future of our community and we are definitely in good hands
“It was also a great honour to welcome nearly 30 new Australian citizens into our community.
