With today’s formal announcement by the Electoral Commission Queensland of the Local Government elections on 28 March, all local governments are now in caretaker mode.
“During this time most of our business will continue as usual,” said Tablelands Regional Council CEO Justin Commons.
“We just won’t be able to make major policy decisions; make, amend or repeal local planning instruments; or distribute communications that help the campaigns of current Councillors that are standing for re-election.
“The rules are very clear and are detailed in our Caretaker Period Policy,” he said.
The election will be conducted by the Electoral Commission Queensland. Check your enrolment details at ecq.qld.gov.au.
