    Sealing Roads

Tablelands Regional Council’s (TRC’s) Mayor Rod Marti, Deputy Mayor Kevin Cardew and Councillor David Clifton recently met TRC staff at Barrine to see the improvements to Powley and Eastern Connection Roads.

‘We are proud to be investing more in upgrading gravel roads to a bitumen sealed standard,’ said Mayor Marti.

‘These projects have cleaned, reprofiled and regraded the existing road surface and drains, and new reinforced concrete pipe extensions have been installed to allow for the widening of the roads.

‘The road surface was then prepared and treated to achieve the new width and profile, and then a new base layer of gravel was laid and compacted.

‘Two coats of bitumen are the final treatment and, once they have settled, we’ll organise line marking for this project and others around the region.

‘Just over 2km of road has been upgraded and, I’m proud to say, the work has been completed by TRC staff and local contractors,’ said Mayor Marti.

Walkamin township, Marnane Road, Rifle Range Road and Deep Creek Road are also scheduled to be sealed this financial year.

Jason Poyner (TRC Foreperson Construction), Arthur Clark (TRC Foreperson Construction), Deputy Mayor Kevin Cardew and Councillor David Clifton inspect the upgrades to Eastern Connection Road.
